So, back in the 90's, there was a "Bad Girl" boom in comics and video games. From Shi, Lady Death to Laura Croft and Alice from Resident Evil. Hot girls in skimpier than skimpy outfits, that barely covered their boobies, fighting whatever antagonist that was thrown their way. But the thing was, they weren't really bad girls. They had some ounce of good in them. I basically said, "screw that! I want a REAL bad girl" And Surrender was born.
When Surrender was first conceived, she was supposed to be an independent comic that a friend of mine and I were gonna collaborate on together. Well, things didn't go so well as we both got promoted and got too busy to commit to Surrender.
Initially, Surrender was a "call girl", who was hired by Italian drug lords who had too much fun with her, and left her for dead. While she recuperates in a hospital, she meets a janitor who's been creepily watching over her for the past few months. He promises our soon to be vengeful bitch, to be a lethal assassin, so she can exact revenge on her attackers.
BORING! So I put Surrender in a box, where my other ideas are kept.
Now, almost 20 years later (OH GOSH! SERIOUSLY?! 20 YEARS?!), Surrender is back, and ready for her close up. Now, Surrender is an assassin, who has no moral compass, no remorse and certainly no regrets for her actions. I'm keeping her origin closely under wraps, until the time comes, but I can promise you, it's a dozy! Surrender is so much fun to write. I mean, I come up with some pretty sick and twisted shit to say, for her. Maybe I'm letting out some aggression. Or maybe I am that sick and twisted. Either way, Surrender will forever my outlet for sex, violence and couture.
